Why a honeymoon to Karpathos?

Karpathos is perfect for couples and therefore really suitable as a honeymoon destination. You will find the Greek island about 3.5 hours by plane from the Netherlands. It is located between the larger islands of Crete and Rhodes. Perfect for the flight distance! In addition, Karpathos is just a lovely romantic place for couples. The island is nice and quiet especially in May/June and from mid-September on. In addition, it possesses beautiful spots to swoon away during a sunrise or sunset.

Let’s also not forget the beautiful beaches on Karpathos that give an extra romantic vibe to your honeymoon. Besides that, Greece is also very affordable. Okay, the plane tickets to Karpathos are a bit more expensive than to other Greek islands, but otherwise it is not that bad! The accommodation is of course up to you. But in terms of dining out or activities you do not have to worry, those prices are very affordable. We usually spend about 25 euros for two people eating out. Any activities do not have to cost anything, think of days at the beach, hiking, snorkeling etc.!

Lux View Villas

You can find these beautiful villas in the North of Karpathos, near the beach of Kyra Panagia. Lux View Villas are nice and private so you won’t be disturbed by all the tourists walking by. The villas have everything you need for a perfect honeymoon including a beautiful private pool/jacuzzi! Just a short walk away (steep though!) are some beautiful beaches like Kato Lako, as well as Kyra Panagia, the beach with one of the most photographed churches in Greece. You will need a car to get here and to eat out at night.

Althea Boutique Hotel

If you’re not into being completely closed off and prefer to be in a cozy village, then Althea Boutique Hotel might be more your thing! This beautiful hotel is located in the village of Amoopi. Restaurants can be found here within walking distance and also the beaches are beautiful and easily accessible. If you book a package for this hotel, you don’t necessarily need a car either, as the bus just drives here.

Arpathea Villas

In the village of Finiki you have Arpathea Villas. These villas are of a decent size and have a great private infinity pool in the garden! Again you are a bit more remote so a car is necessary if you want to go out for dinner or to the beach. Still, if you don’t mind, you could walk to the village of Finiki which is about a 25-minute walk away.

Poseidon Hotel

About 5 minutes from the airport you will find Poseidon Hotel. This hotel is best known for the restaurant that comes with it. In fact, it is run by a Dutchman with his Greek wife. Angela participated in Masterchef Greece. So you can expect special dishes!

The hotel has nice, standard rooms. In addition, they have 2 special suites, one of which has a jacuzzi. Perfect for your honeymoon!

New accommodations 2019

In May 2019, two very nice accommodations will be added on Karpathos that are also perfect for a honeymoon. These are Theros Luxury Villas in Afiartis and Anassa Suites in Amoopi.
