Skala bar | The place to drink ouzo milkshakes!

UPDATE: TOM HAS UNFORTUNATELY DECIDED TO STOP WITH SKALA. AS OF 2024, SKALA AS WE KNEW IT WILL NO LONGER EXIST. WHAT WILL TAKE ITS PLACE IS STILL UNKNOWN.

Quite a few years ago, there was an unusual property vacant in the town of Ammoopi. Several people have fantasized about doing something with the property, however, no one took up the adventure. Dutchman Tom dared to do so and opened the Skala bar in 2007. This made it the first bar in Amoopi. Now exactly 10 years later Tom still has his own bar and so it is high time to tell you a little more about this place!

A beautiful view

Skala bar really has a beautiful view! The bar is located on the top floor of a beautiful building right between Amoopi and Lakki beach. Especially in the hottest months of July and August, you can cool off here in between sunbathing. But also when it is colder, like in May, you can sit here. This is because Amoopi is out of the wind and the part in the wind is shielded.

An incredibly nice detail about the bar is the accessories Tom uses, such as glasses, wine coolers or a holder for skewers. I think it’s a really Dutch thing those crazy accessories 😉 Don’t forget to check out the painted stones and the paintings made by visitors! So be sure to check it out when you are with him!

What’s on the menu?

At Skala bar you can mainly enjoy delicious drinks. Thus, in addition to the regular drink menu, milkshakes and cocktails are served. You can also go there for a snack. When we go, I actually always order the Ouzo milkshake haha. It’s so good, I can’t get it to taste that good at home. Really a very popular drink among visitors. So if you are visiting, you should definitely try this milkshake! By the way, don’t forget to go to Skala on a full moon! You’ll have a great experience and evening 🙂
