Why visit Karpathos
Karpathos is one of those Greek islands that still feels real. Calm, friendly and full of small surprises. You’ll find crystal-clear beaches, mountain villages, family-run tavernas and locals who wave as you walk by.
The island lies between Crete and Rhodes and can easily be reached by plane from Athens, Amsterdam, Düsseldorf, Vienna and several Scandinavian and Italian cities, or by ferry from Rhodes and Crete.
Karpathos isn’t a place for big resorts or parties. It’s perfect if you love beautiful beaches, traditional villages, hiking and windsurfing. It’s the kind of island that gives you space to breathe.
Whether it’s your first time in Greece or you already love the islands, Karpathos offers a slower, more genuine side of Greek life.
Perfect for:
• Couples who want relaxed beach days and cozy dinners
• Families who prefer small local places over big hotels
• Photographers and nature lovers who crave views, cliffs and hidden coves

About us
Hi, we’re Athina and Vincent, a Dutch couple who fell in love with Karpathos years ago.
I (Athina) first visited the island when I was 9, and Vincent followed at 18, just after we met. In 2017 we bought a house here, and during the pandemic in 2021, we made Karpathos our (part-time) home.
We created this guide because we couldn’t find the kind of honest, practical information we wanted ourselves, so I decided to write it. Everything you’ll find inside comes from real, lived experience. No sponsored fluff, just the best of Karpathos through our eyes.
