Afiartis is one of the many villages on Karpathos. A quiet village where relatively few Greeks live. They think it's 'too windy'. And that is true, especially in the summer it can be wind force 6 to 8. A major advantage of the fact that few people live there is that every house often has a priceless view, because nothing has (yet) been built for it. We benefit from this, but also Poseidon restaurant on Karpathos (& hotel!) does this. Both the hotel (yes, all rooms!) and the restaurant have a beautiful view of Damatria beach. Angela and Ingmar are the owners of this beautiful abode and have really turned it into something very special.

The concept of Poseidon restaurant on Karpathos

Angela and Ingmar took over the hotel and restaurant Poseidon from her parents on Karpathos a few years ago. They have given the concept a whole new twist. A few years ago, the ordinary restaurant changed into a chef-worthy restaurant. Angela participated in Masterchef Greece and Ingmar worked for our Dutch Ron Blaauw : a perfect combination for dining in style.

In recent years, the hotel rooms have also been renovated and given a new look, which is completely in line with the style of the restaurant. The rooms are adapted in such a way that you can really relax. This is also possible for people who want to relax in a luxurious suite after a nice lunch at Poseidon. They have 2 real luxury suites !

Private jacuzzi with phenomenal view

We slept twice a night in the hotel and in both luxury suites to experience that feeling ???? . We take you with us to your first night of sleep in the luxury suite with jacuzzi. We were able to check in early and therefore enjoy this beautiful place for an extra long time. On arrival Ingmar takes us to the suite and shows us around.

The suite looks beautiful. The room has a wonderful bed, with an adjoining (open!) bathroom, enough cupboard space and a television with international channels (as far as you watch TV on holiday, but still ???? ). We can also make a cup of coffee or tea in the room. There is also a mini fridge. There are also beds reserved for us on Damatria beach , but the best thing is the jacuzzi.

You can plunge into the jacuzzi directly from your bed and from here you have a breathtaking view over the bay of Damatria. In the evening the view from the jacuzzi is also beautiful, the millions of stars in the sky give a magical feeling to a romantic evening. Great to open a bottle of wine after dinner and have a nice chat.

Have breakfast at Poseidon Blue

… waking up to the sun that shines through the room early, gives you a well-rested feeling! We start our day with breakfast in the restaurant and enjoy a few hours in the jacuzzi before we leave for the beach. At the restaurant you can choose various breakfasts that are served on a large tray per person. Also possible if you don't sleep in the hotel, but fancy a breakfast outside the door, you can go here!

Chef-worthy dining

The restaurant is really a picture and immediately gives you a warm feeling. The restaurant is surrounded by flowers and plants and you have a beautiful view of the bay of Damatria. The menu card looks inviting. Fortunately no endless pages with moussaka, chicken souvlaki and pastitio! Don't get me wrong, they are all delicious Greek dishes, but during your holiday you sometimes want to eat something different for a day.

Each dish in its power

On the menu you will find a small selection of starters and main courses. All so different, I find the layout and taste of the dishes special. It makes the dish come into its power much more.

My favorite is turkey breast with honey mustard sauce, jasmine rice and sprouts. Sounds pretty simple, but the way it is served and tastes, you won't find it anywhere else, believe me ???? .

2021-by now my favorite dish is gone! Poseidon Blue changes their card every year (partially).

Greek wine list

In addition to the standard house wines, Poseidon also has a special Greek wine list with a very good selection of wines. No idea what sounds good to you? Feel free to ask because Ingmar will tell you with great passion about the wines! This is where his old roots come to the fore when Ingmar was a sommelier at Ron Blaauw.

Always nice to hear when he has discovered new wines in his winter period. As soon as he knows what you like, you're screwed haha ????

End with dessert

If you're not completely full from a starter and main course (and even if you are! ????) definitely opt for a dessert at Poseidon, because this is also a picture on the table. My favorite has to be the Nutella Souffle, aah! It's so delicious!

Tip for dining

A tip for when you dine at Poseidon and you don't know what to choose, because you are hungry for everything. Order 1 dish with someone at a time and share it . This happens all the way at Poseidon, so you can enjoy several dishes, you are less full and you can enjoy the evening even longer!
