Where is Agios Nikolaos Beach?
The beach is located between the bottom of Arkassa between the taverna Glaros and KarPassion Beach Bar. Below you will find the exact location of the beach. When you enter the village of Arkassa from Pigadia/airport, turn left at the first intersection and turn right at a T-junction. If you drive this you will end up at the beach. You can easily park your car or scooter there. In clear weather you can see Kasos from this beach!
Facts about the beach of Arkassa
Here we are going to share some fun facts about Agios Nikolaos Beach with you. When it is wise to go to this beach and what you should definitely do!
High waves
The first part of Agios Nikolaos Beach is shallow, which means that some waves quickly form. With strong winds, the chance of waves is already a lot higher, but if you have the chance to go the day after the full moon, the chance of high waves is greatest! We are just going to the beach to jump in the waves! If you have a skimboard, you should definitely bring it. Watch out that you don't go too much to the side because of the current, here are all rocks you don't want to bump into ????
Beach volleyball field
During the main season, a group of fanatics gather in the afternoon to play beach volleyball against each other. It used to be 2 pillars that were dug in again every year. Manolis the owner of the Stema Bar arranged this every year. Since a number of years, two professional poles have been placed that also remain in place in the winter. So you see, these competitions are taken seriously ????
Small crabs
Especially in the pre-season in April / May when there are still few tourists, there are many small crabs. You can see the holes when you walk on the beach. When we are on the beach around this period, it is always a pleasure to see them crawling by again. You don't have to be afraid, very small chance that they bite with their scissors. The crabs are more afraid of you ????
Party every Sunday
The KarPassion Beach Bar regularly plays nice music in the afternoon. But every Sunday afternoon from 16.00 there is a DJ playing. Then it is the extra party that many younger (also many locals) come to. What couldn't be better to end the weekend with a nice drink on the beach with some louder music in the background.
Setting sun
The setting sun is really beautiful in Arkassa. You can see him completely disappearing into the sea. Tip to bring a drink and a snack and enjoy the beach for a while. From KarPassion Beach Bar you also have a perfect view of the setting sun. But if you are in Arkassa for the setting sun, the most beautiful spot is surely at the Stema Bar.
Archaeological finds
In Arkassa all kinds of archaeological finds have been found that you can see at Chapel of Agia Sophia which is located near the beach. The easiest way is to drive there by car / scooter but of course you can also walk here. This summer, Athina's father found Agios Nikolaos a marble pillar on the beach. The archaeologist was very happy with it!
